Environment & Woodland
Environmental Work.
The farmland has been within an environmental scheme of one form for over 15 years and our current scheme will create an area in excess of 10% of the farmed area dedicated to environmental protection.
Benefits to wildlife are clear to be seen and we are lucky enough to have a number of Red-Listed species on the farm.
Woodland Management.
All woodland on the Estate is managed according to a long term plan approved by the Forestry Commission. The aim is to provide a sustainable source of timber primarily from native broadleaves, whilst protecting and enhancing valuable wildlife habitat.
To increase efficiency and safety of forestry operations within our woodland management work we have invested in specialist machinery. The investment has, in part, been funded by The European Agricultural Fund and delivered by the LEADER Programme - Clay Vales area.
